Specialist, Software Development EngineeringJob Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with over 8+ years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in mainframe technologies and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and providing production support for critical applications. In this role, you will work on multiple projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability and efficiency of our mainframe systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement complex mainframe applications using languages such as COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
Provide expert production support for existing applications, including monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability.
Analyze and resolve production incidents, evaluating root causes, and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Optimize and enhance existing applications to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to application functionality, system configurations, and support processes.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering their development and growth within the team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer with a strong focus on production support and system maintenance.
Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, SQL, and DB2, with substantial experience in a mainframe environment.
Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile practices.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and address complex technical issues efficiently.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with additional mainframe technologies such as CICS, VSAM, or MQ Series.
Experience with incident management and monitoring tools for effective production support.
Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques for mainframe applications.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
Understanding of current trends in mainframe modernization.
