Senior Application Operations

About your role:

As a candidate for this position, you will be focused on production and non-production technology systems. You will also lead detection and troubleshooting of issues that affect delivery of our services across multiple platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working in a fast-paced environment to develop support utilities and applications - managing STAR Backoffice batch application systems; implementation of core processing configurations to surrounds interfacing with Tandem/HP Non-Stop and all code releases required to support the batch, transmission, and job scheduling application systems. You will address client/vendor/internal escalated requests for assistance, engage with implementation, system administration, and/or development teams on taking over support responsibilities for efforts that should belong with AppOps. This will improve execution by scripting repetitive tasks and automating error/failure notifications. You will lead the rotating on-call schedule, project participation, and business continuity support for the Card Service processing on Linux/Unix and some Windows applications. Success will be measured by the quality of production changes, timeliness of incident resolution, skill and speed of triage, monitoring and interpretation of alerts, and successful completion of projects or assigned tasks.

What you will do:

  • Distributed/Open Source Backoffice systems and/or development associate who can provide 24x7 support of production applications on a rotating basis and participate in resolution of escalated incident calls
  • Troubleshoot issues within non-production and production multi-tier environments
  • Address file transmission and job scheduling issues impacting timely delivery of content to financial institutions
  • Create application monitoring scripts and automate alerts to inform technical teams of problems
  • Recommend performance and infrastructure capacity improvements as well as enhancements to existing scripts and utilities in use
  • Point of escalation, accountable for diagnosing and resolving customer impacting issues
  • Review deployment artifacts to ensure completion prior to executing production installs
  • Participate in assigned projects representing the Debit Support organization - communicate status, issues, and delivery risks
  • Work with Change Management/Release Managers on the evaluation of change events and in planning work items for production deployment
  • Participate in code and infrastructure patch installations or fallbacks. Validate systems are operating as they should, following a completed installation of new code or patches to the environment
  • Document install and new defects, and assign severity to the problem that occurred, and work with various teams to determine root cause
  • Perform trending and analysis of problems; develop risk mitigation plans for continuous improvement
  • Ensure monitoring alerts and system events are risk assessed, prioritized, and worked aggressively
  • Maintain and/or create technical support documentation
  • Assume support responsibilities for production items currently being supported by development, and train new associates on Backoffice Application Support going forward

Experience you will need to have:

  • 5 years of experience in application and full life-cycle development and/or production support in a technology driven environment - preferably in financial services and/or banking
  • UNIX/Linux Java development support, shell scripting, and Oracle operations, with experience troubleshooting of production applications within lower and upper multi-tier environments
  • Strong technical experience with Apache, and either WebSphere, WebLogic, or Jboss
  • Knowledge of Oracle Golden Gate
  • Experience with data query language Sqldeveloper, perl/sql and knowledge of NoSql database - couchbase, cassandra, mongoDB, coherence
  • Experience with monitoring tools - Splunk, Dynatrace, extrahop
  • Experience with Webservices (SOAP/REST/JSON/AMQP/XML) and shell scripting, Sed, AWK, python, bash, ruby
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related discipline

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience transitioning teams to an Agile Framework
  • Certifications: Knowledge of ITIL production support best practices
  • Knowledge of Batch scheduling systems Control M, autosys
  • Familiarity with common networking practices and strong understanding of multi-tier architecture and infrastructure configurations
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to solve complex problems and independent judgement to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Knowledge of Java development and Distributed/Open Source systems and/or development
  • Experience in automation tools like UIPath, Automation Anywhere, Blueprism
  • Knowledge of azure cloud; pivotal cloud and kafka technology

Salary Range

$83,400.00 - $143,000.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
