This is a highly visible role supporting Apple’s Sales organization in China. We are looking for a Data Scientist who can partner closely with business teams to identify opportunities, uncover insights from data, and transform recurring business needs into scalable analytical solutions, data products, and AI agents. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical depth with business judgment, structured problem solving, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Description

Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand priorities, identify pain points, and proactively uncover high-impact opportunities through data

Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks, actionable insights, and scalable solution roadmaps

Use data analysis, experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, or other quantitative methods to diagnose business issues and inform decisions

Synthesize recurring business workflows and decision patterns into reusable data products, analytical frameworks, or AI/agent-based solutions

Drive end-to-end problem solving, from opportunity sizing and hypothesis generation to analysis, recommendation, stakeholder alignment, and execution support

Communicate complex analytical findings in a clear and compelling way to both technical and non-technical audiences

Influence partners across business, product, engineering, and data teams to align around priorities and accelerate adoption of analytical and AI solutions

Help shape best practices for how data science can scale business impact through tools, automation, and intelligent agents

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong quantitative background in statistics, econometrics, operations research, applied economics, marketing science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to solve real business problems and generate actionable insights
  • Strong problem-structuring skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity and define clear analytical approaches
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and scalable analytics workflows
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present to non-technical business audiences
  • Ability to connect analytical work to business impact and drive decisions across cross-functional teams
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a highly business-facing analytics, strategy, consulting, or data science role
  • Experience identifying repeatable business problems and converting them into scalable tools, internal products, or AI/agent workflows
  • Familiarity with experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, segmentation, or optimization methods in practical business settings
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to frame opportunities, build stakeholder buy-in, and influence direction with data
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working with product, engineering, or machine learning teams to productionize analytical solutions
  • Advocate for reproducible analysis, version control, and high-quality data science standards
  • Education & Experience
  • PhD in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Marketing Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; or
  • Master’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, strategy, or consulting
