The Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) team is responsible for crafting and developing methodologies and measurement solutions for calibration and validation of key technologies across Apple’s products. For new technologies, we focus on metrology development and design characterization. We take on a multitude of technologies such as Camera, Depth, Image Sensors, Motion, Optical & Health Sensors as well as Display and Touch across all product lines.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager for our Technology Engineering Program Management (EPM) team in Shanghai, China. This pivotal role involves leading a skilled and diverse team of EPMs focused on the development and implementation of innovative metrology solutions, and algorithms for display, sensors, camera and depth sensing technologies.
This role will be instrumental in establishing and nurturing critical functional partnerships with stakeholders across the company, spanning different geographic locations. This position requires you to own and drive high-impact meetings, work closely with senior leaders to review technology/module roadmaps, and strategically tie these roadmaps to investments in new technologies and the right metrology solutions. Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse, multi-functional team of Engineering Program Managers (EPMs), fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Drive team performance and individual growth.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Establish, continuously maintain, and nurture robust functional partnerships with key partners across Apple (Engineering, Operations, Product and Research) - across timezones and continents Engineering, Product, and other multi-functional teams globally.
- Strategic Alignment & Roadmap Influence: Work proactively with key HWTE technology partners in Europe, US and Asia to review and understand technology/module roadmaps. Ensure strategic alignment between new technology investments and the development of appropriate, scalable, and forward-looking metrology solutions.
- Technical Program Execution: Lead all aspects of and drive successful execution of metrology development and algorithm pipelines from concept through to mass production for complex technologies. Support NPI builds/ characterization activities at CM/OEM partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Physics) or a related technical field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage, influence, and present to partners at all levels.
- 6+ years of experience in Engineering Program Management, Technical Program Management, or a similar role within a technology-driven industry.
- 2+ years of direct people management experience, leading and developing technical program managers or engineering teams.
- Good working knowledge of algorithm pipelines, camera module technology, and/or depth sensing technologies.
- 5+ years relevant industry experience in one or more technologies: display, motion sensing, optical sensing, touch sensing, camera and depth sensing technologies.
- Good understanding of NPI process, metrology development principles and best practices.
- Background in one or more of the following: optical metrology, motion-sensing metrology, touch metrology, image sensor technology, computer vision algorithms, 3D sensing (e.g., ToF, Structured Light).
- Understanding of hardware/software architecture and interoperability of complex systems
- Knowledge of statistical data analysis, design, process and test FMEA.
- High volume consumer electronics calibration, testing and manufacturing experience.
- Technical leadership and/or project management experience with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to bring focus and transparency to complex situations while monitoring the bigger picture and the needs of a rapid development cycle.
