Summary
Apple's Hardware group develops some of the world's most advanced technologies—the silicon, sensors, and optical systems that power the experiences that define Apple products. We are looking for a Senior Sensor & Embedded Systems Validation Engineer to join our team in Herzliya.

In this role, you will bring up advanced sensor subsystems on embedded platforms. You will work at the intersection of hardware, firmware, optics, and physics—owning end-to-end quality of the sensing subsystem, from specification compliance to real-world system behavior.

Description
You will be responsible for testing advanced sensor systems and for validating their functionality at the embedded level. The role spans sensor and illuminator bring-up, interface verification, functionality analysis, performance characterization, firmware integration support, and close partnership with various teams.

Responsibilities

• Author detailed test plans that cover all E2E functionality and edge cases of a system
• Execute system-level validation strategies, test plans, and cases from specification definition through test execution and reporting
• Support firmware integration, ensuring robust sensor and illuminator operation within the full system stack
• Design, build, and maintain automated test infrastructure for validation and regression testing
• Drive root-cause analysis of issues spanning hardware, firmware, optics, and sensor subsystems
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in embedded systems validation, CMOS sensor characterization, or a closely related discipline
• Strong Python proficiency — test automation frameworks, instrument control, data analysis, and infrastructure development
• Hands-on experience with HW/SW test automation and structured development
• Working knowledge of image sensor characterization methodologies
• Proven ability to bridge physics-level understanding and engineering implementation
• Rigorous approach to testing, quality, and validation methodology
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• MSc in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• Knowledgeable in the hardware/firmware development life cycle
• Familiarity with VCSEL or edge-emitting laser drivers
• Experience building test automation infrastructure from the ground up
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for hardware validation environments (Jenkins, Git, containerized runners)
• Experience developing in iOS and/or Linux environments
