Summary
At Apple, extraordinary ideas become products, services, and experiences that shape culture.

Bring passion and precision to your craft, and there’s no limit to what you can build.

The Content Design team supports Apple Services and defines the content experience across

some of the most visible Apple products. We focus on how people consume, create, and

connect across all our applications.

We're looking for a Senior Designer, to help define and grow our approach to visual systems, art

direction, and conceptual design. This role is built on solid graphic design foundations —

typography, layout, composition, and visual storytelling — with creative technology built into the

practice from the ground up. Creative code, AI, generative tools, and motion are treated as core

creative mediums, not add-ons.

Description
The ideal candidate combines exceptional design craft with strong art direction instincts and

genuine curiosity about how technology can expand creative possibility. They have a highly

refined eye for visual design, a deep understanding of typography, and a proven history of

building design systems that hold up at global scale. Just as importantly, they're comfortable

working hands-on with design, creative code, AI, and modern design tools as part of how they

think and create.

They will work closely with Art Directors, the Creative Director, Creative Producers, cross-

functional partners and external agencies to build and scale these systems, explore new ideas,

and push the possibilities of design.

Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve visual systems and design frameworks that scale across projects, markets, and platforms.
  • Provide art direction across campaigns and initiatives, ensuring visual consistency and a strong point of view.
  • Use code, AI, generative tools, and motion design to prototype and develop new creative ideas.
  • Partner with Art Directors and the Creative Director to shape concepts and iterate on design solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional partners inside and outside design — engineering, production, and technical teams — to build and scale systems.
  • Anticipate and solve for creative and technical challenges as systems scale across languages and markets.
  • Prepare for creative reviews by organising files, prototypes, and presentation materials clearly.
  • Guide ideas from concept to final execution, ensuring work meets both creative and business objectives.
  • Operate with autonomy and independence in the role as a senior member of the team.
  • Ensure final deliverables — typography, layout, motion, and system components — are flawless and consistent.
  • Continually seek opportunities to refine design thinking and improve workflows.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of relevant graphic design experience, ideally within a creative, cultural, digital, or technology-focused environment.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design fundamentals, art direction, and design systems work.
  • Strong command of visual communication and graphic design principles, with exceptional attention to craft and detail.
  • Deep understanding and appreciation of typography, photography, motion, illustration, and visual storytelling.
  • Hands-on experience with creative technology — AI, generative tools, or creative coding — as part of the creative process, not just an interest in it.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with a broad range of design and motion tools.
  • Bilingual skills in both Japanese and English (minimum business level of reading, writing, and spoken in either language)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and scaling graphic design systems across multiple languages, markets, and cultural contexts.
  • Art direction experience on campaigns, editorial, or brand initiatives.
  • Comfortable working through an iterative creative process, embracing experimentation, feedback, and refinement.
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams across time zones, markets, and different working practices.
  • A genuine passion for music, culture, and contemporary visual communication.
