Summary
Do you want to have a significant impact on how work is done at Apple? Radar is used by

every major organization across Apple to help teams organize and track their work. As Apple’s primary tool for defining, tracking, and testing issues, Radar has been used for decades across various teams, including hardware and software engineering. It serves as a unified platform for bug tracking, test case management, and product management, facilitating seamless coordination among team members. The Radar Engineering team at Apple seeks an early-career Performance Engineer to help keep Radar fast at Apple scale.

Description
As a Performance Engineer for Radar, you will help make Apple’s platform for product devel-

opment, bug tracking, and work management fast and able to scale. Radar is a high-traffic,

business-critical system used by teams across all of Apple, and every second of latency is multiplied across engineers company-wide.

You will join a growing team distributed across California, Texas, and Ireland. In our highly

collaborative environment, you will work closely with a team of passionate builders to deliver

end-to-end features critical to Apple’s engineering workflows. You will receive structured

mentorship, comprehensive training in Apple’s development practices, and the support to learn and develop your skills quickly.

You will design and run load and performance tests across a complex microservices ecosystem. You will measure, profile, and find bottlenecks, and learn how a platform at this scale remains fast while it constantly evolves. As you ramp up, you will take on increasing ownership of performance testing, help shape capacity planning, and help bring new performance tools and technologies onto the platform.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and run load, stress, and performance tests for Radar’s services.
  • Analyze results, profile services, and identify bottlenecks.
  • Report findings clearly and work with engineers to verify fixes.
  • Track performance trends across releases and flag regressions.
  • Contribute to capacity planning and performance test strategy.
  • Follow and help improve the team’s engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Solid programming or scripting skills in Java, Python, or similar language.
  • Understanding of how web services, databases, and networks affect application performance.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and a working understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exposure to load testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
  • Exposure to profiling and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
  • Interest or experience in agentic workflows, MCP integrations, or AI-assisted development tools.
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
