Description
We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Electro-Optical Systems Validation Engineer to join our new team in Herzliya. We work at the intersection of machine learning, hardware, and software, creating technologies that reshape how people communicate and experience the world around them in everyday life.

In this role, you will take ownership of the validation and characterization of advanced electro-optical systems, with the opportunity to develop testing capabilities and measurement methodologies from the ground up.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role that combines laboratory experimentation with in-depth data analysis.

You will design and build optical test setups, develop automated measurements, investigate system performance, and turn experimental results into meaningful engineering conclusions.

Working at the intersection of optics, hardware, and software, you will help establish new laboratory capabilities, shape validation methodologies, and contribute to the development of emerging sensing technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end validation and characterization of electro-optical systems, evaluating their performance across a wide range of operating and environmental conditions.
  • Translate system specifications and validation objectives into accurate, reliable, and repeatable test methodologies.
  • Design, build, and bring up laboratory measurement setups, including optical and mechanical fixtures, equipment selection, and instrumentation.
  • Develop software for test automation, equipment control, data acquisition, and system measurements, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation and debugging.
  • Analyze experimental data, characterize system performance, and identify anomalies, limitations, and deviations from expected behavior.
  • Investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and evaluate solutions.
  • Present technical findings and conclusions, providing clear, data-driven recommendations and next steps.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BSc in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or applied research experience in electro-optical systems, optical characterization, validation, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of applied optics and electro-optical systems, with the ability to apply optical principles to measurement design, characterization, and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on laboratory experience, with the ability to independently develop, operate, and troubleshoot experimental setups
  • Strong analytical and system-level problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate system behavior and identify technical issues
  • Good programming skills, with the ability to understand, develop, and troubleshoot code for test automation, equipment control, and data analysis
  • Ability to independently drive technical activities from planning through execution and conclusions, with strong technical communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • MSc in Physics, Electro-Optics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience designing and developing electro-optical characterization setups, including instrument integration and mechanical fixtures
  • Experience with imaging systems, laser-based sensors, optical sensing, or optical metrology
  • Experience using Python for laboratory automation, instrument control, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with optical performance characterization, sensor calibration, and alignment methodologies
  • Experience characterizing electro-optical system performance under varying environmental conditions, such as illumination, temperature, moisture, and motion
