About the Role

Thrive Global is looking for an AI Innovation Fellow — an early-career creator, builder, and experimenter who sees AI not just as a tool, but as a creative partner, collaborator, and catalyst for new ideas. You don’t need years of traditional experience — we’re seeking someone who’s deeply curious about how AI can transform storytelling, health communication, and editorial workflows.

In this freelance fellowship, you’ll collaborate with Thrive’s editorial teams to explore new ways AI can accelerate content creation, enhance accuracy, and scale storytelling with heart. You’ll experiment with large language models, build GPT-style assistants, and help shape how Thrive uses AI to advance our mission of improving wellbeing at scale.

If you’re passionate about AI and eager to experiment, build, and learn — even if you don’t meet every qualification — we encourage you to apply. We value creativity, curiosity, and courage to try what hasn’t been done before.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit and reimagine Thrive’s content creation process, identifying where AI can speed up workflows, enhance creativity, and improve quality.
  • Design and test AI-driven editorial tools and templates, from prompt libraries to prototype assistants that support writers and editors.
  • Train and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) for editorial and health applications, ensuring outputs align with Thrive’s tone, accuracy, and evidence-based standards.
  • Stay ahead of AI innovation trends, surfacing new ideas and tools that can enhance how we create and communicate.

Who You Are

  • A creative technologist, student, or self-taught innovator who loves experimenting with AI and exploring its boundaries.
  • Experienced using generative AI tools (e.g., GPT, Claude, Gemini) and curious about prompt design, training, and fine-tuning.
  • Comfortable building prototypes and iterating quickly, with a focus on learning and improving.
  • Excited by the chance to combine creativity and technology to shape the future of human storytelling.
  • Passionate about health and well-being, and helping people live better lives every day.
  • You don’t need to be a professional writer, but you should recognize what good writing looks like — clear, accurate, engaging, and human. You’ll use those instincts to help train and improve our AI systems.

Additional Information

This is a freelance, project-based opportunity estimated at up to 20 hours per work, and paying $30 to $40 an hour depending on qualifications. Fellows may be considered for future full-time positions on the Thrive content team. Contact Tara Parker-Pope, Chief Content Officer at tpp@thriveglobal.com. Please send a resume and cover letter telling us more about you.

You might not have all these skills yet — and that’s okay. If you’re passionate about AI, experimentation, and purpose-driven innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

We're excited to introduce you to a series of stress-relief videos crafted with care by our team. Your wellbeing is a top priority for us, and we believe Thrive Reset can be a great way to unwind and recharge, especially during busy days. We hope you find them helpful in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Enjoy!
